Build the data layer that powers product analytics, ML training data, and the HEI Truth Report. Pipelines, warehouses, quality, lineage. Most of the value of this role is in what you refuse to build — a clean small system beats a sprawling one.
02 — The work
What you will own
- 01 Build and own data pipelines (ingest → transform → serve).
- 02 Run the warehouse (DuckDB / ClickHouse / BigQuery).
- 03 Own data quality and lineage; make them visible.
- 04 Partner with ML on training-data pipelines.
- 05 Partner with HEI editorial on the public data product.

- → You have shipped at least one data pipeline that has run on schedule, with quality checks, for 18+ months.
- → You can describe a specific data quality bug you caught with a test you wrote.
- → You have worked with at least one truly messy real-world dataset and have an opinion about how to handle the corner cases.
- → You write dbt models that other people copy from.
