01 — The role
Why this role exists at EduRankAI
The bridge between the research lab and the AI platform. You will implement frontier-paper ideas, reproduce baselines, and write the libraries the rest of engineering depends on. Half the role is reading; half is writing libraries that survive the messy reality of production. You will pair with research scientists weekly. The art is keeping the scientific intent intact while making the code maintainable, deterministic, and fast enough to ship.

What you will own
- 01 Reproduce frontier-paper baselines for reasoning, alignment, and evals.
- 02 Implement research-team ideas as production-quality libraries with tests, types, and docs.
- 03 Own the experiment tracking and reproducibility infrastructure.
- 04 Run interventions and ablations that validate or invalidate research claims.
- 05 Author internal whitepapers when an idea graduates from speculative to baseline.
- 06 Pair with research scientists weekly; translate ambiguous hypotheses into clean experiments.

- → You have reproduced at least three frontier ML papers from scratch and you can describe what each one got wrong in the original.
- → You can read a paper on Friday and have a runnable repro by the next Friday.
- → You have shipped at least one library that other engineers depend on.
- → You write tests for research code even when nobody asks you to.
- → You can defend a one-pager that argues against a popular research method.

Where this stands legally
Hours are not counted at this level. The statutory ceiling of 9 hours a day and 48 a week remains the limit the role is designed to fit inside: if the work cannot be done within a normal week, the scope is wrong, not the person.
