01 — The role

Why this role exists at EduRankAI

Visvambhara is EduRankAI's deep-tech aerospace and planetary mobility programme. We are building a multi-environment autonomous vehicle ecosystem — spanning underwater (0–100km depth), surface, atmosphere, and space — powered by particle-based infinite energy architecture, graphene-composite structures, and quantum communication networks. The programme operates in three parallel phases: NanoBee (3.2g autonomous drone units), Mothership (carrier vessel housing up to 1 lakh NanoBees with docking, charging, and repair systems), and GrandMotherShip (planetary-scale command and logistics vessel). Interns work on real, first-principles engineering problems across all phases from day one. 02 — The work

What you will own

  • 01 Own and deliver a clearly scoped research, engineering, design, or simulation work package
  • 02 Conduct literature reviews, technical benchmarking, and state-of-the-art analysis in your domain
  • 03 Develop mathematical models, simulations, algorithms, and engineering studies for assigned systems
  • 04 Contribute to NanoBee hardware design — camera, compute, propulsion, power, and communication modules
  • 05 Work on mothership docking, charging, repair bay, and swarm management architecture
  • 06 Support propulsion system design for tri-environment operation — underwater, atmospheric, and space
  • 07 Research and model particle-based energy generation systems (hydrogen, helium, and elemental energy sources)
  • 08 Design or analyse graphene-composite structures for multi-environment mobility and durability
  • 09 Develop or contribute to quantum and acoustic underwater communication network architecture
  • 10 Build simulations or visual models of vehicle behaviour across all three operating environments
  • 11 Document findings, produce technical reports, and present outcomes to the core team
  • 12 Collaborate across nano-engineering, aerospace, energy, and communication workstreams

03 — The expertise

What we look for

Nano-Device Engineering: Nanofabrication, MEMS, miniaturised systems design, nano-power managementAerospace Engineering: CFD, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, atmospheric modelling, UAV systemsUnderwater Systems: Acoustic communication, pressure hull design, deep-sea propulsion, AUV architectureSpace & Propulsion: Orbital mechanics, rocket propulsion, ion drives, multi-environment thrust systemsMaterials Science: Graphene synthesis, composite structures, thermal management, structural analysisEnergy Systems: Particle energy modelling, power electronics, energy harvesting, propulsion integrationAutonomous Systems & AI: Swarm intelligence, edge AI, onboard compute, computer vision, SLAMQuantum & Network Engineering: Quantum communication protocols, underwater optical/acoustic networks, hybrid relay designElectrical & Embedded: PCB design, embedded systems, power systems, sensor integrationSimulation & Modelling: MATLAB, Simulink, ANSYS, FEA, multi-physics simulation, 3D CADGeneral (All Roles): First-principles thinking, technical writing, problem solving, research methodology

04 — The bar

Who thrives here

  • Open to students, graduates, and independent researchers across engineering, physics, materials science, computer science, and related fields
  • Nano-engineering, aerospace, deep-tech, or physics backgrounds strongly preferred for respective tracks
  • Portfolio, GitHub, publications, patents, prototypes, competition achievements, or any demonstrable technical work preferred
  • No minimum degree requirement — capability, depth, and execution ability matter more than credentials
  • Selection is based on research potential, technical depth, learning agility, and alignment with Visvambhara programme objectives
  • Exceptional candidates may be considered for full-time roles or extended research positions

05 — How we work

The EduRankAI environment

Remote-first, async-first

Work from anywhere. We optimise for deep work, not face time. Periodic in-person off-sites for the full-time team.

High autonomy, high standards

We hire adults and trust them. You will be expected to set your own goals, communicate clearly, and ship.

Builders, not bureaucrats

We optimise for clarity over process. Make the call, ship the work, write up what you learned.

Bharat-built, globally ambitious

We are an Indian frontier AI lab. We build for India first and the world second — in that order.

06 — Hiring process

What to expect after you apply

  1. 01

    Application review

Every application is read personally within five business days. We respond either way.

  2. 02

    Take-home or live exercise

Role-specific. Time-boxed. Real problems we are actually working on, not invented puzzles.

  3. 03

    Conversations

Deep technical and values conversations with the team you would join. No trick questions. No panel ambushes.

  4. 04

    Offer or honest no

If yes: digital offer letter, signed in-portal, transparent terms. If no: written feedback if you want it.

Our situation

EduRankAI is a small, independent organization building long-term capabilities in educational intelligence, advanced AI systems, and research infrastructure. We take no advertiser money, no donations with strings attached, and no investor pressure on hiring decisions. The small per-application fee covers the real cost of processing your application — human review, identity verification, infrastructure, reviewer time. It buys us the right to be honest. Genuine financial hardship? Request a fee waiver inside the application — reviewed individually within 5 business days, with no record in your file and no second-class treatment of waiver-granted applications.
