Why this role exists at EduRankAI
Author 4-6 published investigations a year for the HEI Truth Report. Grow under the Director of Investigations and the Senior Data Journalist into a Senior Reporter role over 24-36 months. The bar is serious investigative work — multi-source, evidence-rich, fact-checked, lawyer-reviewed. You will be expected to defend every load-bearing claim in writing and in person.

What you will own
- 01 Author 4-6 published investigations a year.
- 02 Run source development + public-records work end-to-end.
- 03 Defend stories in fact-check, legal review, and editorial pushback.
- 04 Pair with the data team on quantitative claims.
- 05 Pair with the Director of Investigations on methodology.
- 06 Mentor reporting interns.

Who thrives here
- → You have published at least three substantial investigations under your byline that produced visible institutional response.
- → You can write a source-handling memo a colleague could follow.
- → You read public records carefully and can describe a story that turned on a specific record.
- → You write clean copy that survives editorial pushback.
- → You have defended at least one story against a legal threat or formal complaint.

A scheduled week: five days, eight hours a day, with two full rest days and latitude over when within the day you work.

Objectives agreed at the start of each cycle. Hours recorded for compliance are never used as a performance score.
Where this stands legally
Within the 9-hour day and 48-hour week ceiling of the applicable state Shops and Establishments Act, with at least 24 consecutive hours of weekly rest and a break of at least 30 minutes after five hours of continuous work. Hours are recorded for statutory compliance only. Work beyond the scheduled week is agreed in advance and compensated with time off in lieu.
