Build AI Tutor features under Senior + Staff mentorship. Eval, prompts, retrieval, sequencing, error analysis on real learner trajectories. Grow into a Senior AI Tutor Engineer over 18-24 months. The role is for engineers who already understand that the eval is where the work is — not the prompt, not the model choice. The bar is "you can ship a tutor feature that does not regress under real learner traffic".
02 — The work
What you will own
- 01 Ship AI Tutor features under Senior code review.
- 02 Author evals that match real learner trajectories.
- 03 Improve retrieval + grounding for the tutor.
- 04 Triage tutor failures from production and fix at root.
- 05 Pair daily with the Senior AI Tutor Engineer.
- 06 Encode pedagogy decisions into prompts + system prompts under curriculum review.

Who thrives here
- → You have shipped at least one LLM-backed feature that has been live for 6+ months.
- → You have written at least one eval that caught a regression before users saw it.
- → You read ML papers regularly and can describe one whose method you have re-implemented.
- → You can describe a prompt-engineering win and the eval that proved it was real and not a one-off.
- → You can read pedagogy literature and find a hypothesis worth encoding.

Objectives agreed at the start of each cycle. Hours recorded for compliance are never used as a performance score.
Where this stands legally
Within the 9-hour day and 48-hour week ceiling of the applicable state Shops and Establishments Act, with at least 24 consecutive hours of weekly rest and a break of at least 30 minutes after five hours of continuous work. Hours are recorded for statutory compliance only. Work beyond the scheduled week is agreed in advance and compensated with time off in lieu.
